Bridges of Life

A Selection of Poems

By James Bolgiano

Standing Close

Standing close!
The mountains comfort each other,
As they wall the verdant valleys below.

Caressed by the sky,
Precipices rise to attention,
As soldiers in dress parade.

Born of earth and fire but given maturity
By eons of winds and rains,
They nurture the life they have mothered.

Shadows, induced by billowing clouds,
Provide ever-changing character
And intermittent relief from Appollean grandeur.

A humble oneness is found in one’s soul,
When eyes peer at the majestic towers,
Standing close.
