Bridges of Life

There's Still You

I had to wash the sheets today,
Because they still held a lingering aroma of you.
When I would snuggle close to your pillow,
I still felt your presence there.

Feeling an emptiness in my heart,
I pulled the sheets from the bed,
Trying to forget nights of passion
And pillow talk in the afterglow.

The deed is done,
I spread the covers again.
Crawling beneath the warm linens,
Hoping your memories have been shed.
I snuggle close to your pillow ….
And there’s still you
